Australian Gas Infrastructure Group

A whole new way to engage on regulatory plans

Challenge: Making complex regulatory plans accessible

Australian Gas Infrastructure Group (AGIG) was required to engage stakeholders in its Draft Plan for the South Australian Access Arrangement (2026/27 – 2030/31), but traditional documents and spreadsheets created barriers.

The Draft Plan was technical, complex and difficult for non-industry stakeholders to follow. AGIG wanted to increase the breadth of its engagement, increase transparency, and create opportunities for all voices to be heard.

Solution: Simple, succinct, interactive and engaging

AGIG’s engagement team first identified OrbViz at a local government conference as a way to modernise and broaden engagement. An initial proof of concept tested with stakeholder reference groups received positive feedback and gave AGIG confidence to use OrbViz throughout the engagement phase and beyond.

OrbViz replaced static documents with an interactive experience that used videos, graphics, charts, and interactive visualisations to tell the story of AGIG’s Draft Plan. Tabbed navigation allowed users to focus on topics that mattered to them. Expenditure and demand forecasts became easy to compare and understand. The layout encouraged exploration, interaction and participation through feedback mechanisms. OrbViz also integrated the full Draft Plan and chapter extracts for participants who wanted technical depth.

The new format simplified regulatory information and created a clear pathway for engagement. Industry experts could access detail and non-technical stakeholders could understand key points and respond with confidence. The design made complex information transparent, accessible, and engaging.

Conclusion: A new benchmark for regulatory engagement

AGIG delivered its Draft Plan with a full OrbViz-powered experience that shifted the engagement needle from 150 site views to more than 2500 – a 1700% increase. Customer workshops showed stronger connections and better understanding. Stakeholders who had not previously engaged now joined the conversation. Feedback was more meaningful and reflected a broader audience.

AGIG turned a compliance obligation into an opportunity for dialogue, demonstrating leadership in digital innovation and a new standard for energy sector engagement. The partnership with OrbViz created a more inclusive and transparent process.
